From Field Engineer to Regional AV Manager: A Journey Built on Trust, Travel, and Teamwork
Ciaron Davis, AV Regional Team Lead
When I joined EOS IT Solutions at 22, I had no idea how quickly the job would reshape my life. My very first assignment took me to San Francisco, and what was meant to be a short trip turned into nine months travelling across the United States. For someone fresh out of college, the mix of sunshine, new cities, and a strong work‑life balance made those early days unforgettable. What surprised me most was how quickly I was trusted with real responsibility. Instead of easing in slowly, I was thrown into meaningful work from day one, accelerating everything: my learning, my confidence, and my ambition.
Nearly four years later, stepping into the Senior Lead Engineer role became a turning point. It pushed me to think beyond the technical tasks and start developing leadership skills. EOS continued to open doors leading projects, mentoring others, and taking on challenges that stretched me in the best ways. Those experiences, paired with the guidance of the people around me, paved the path to my current role as Regional AV Manager.
Seven years in the field still shape how I lead today. I know the pace, the pressure, and the realities engineers face on the ground. That understanding helps me set realistic expectations and support the team in ways that actually work in the real world. It also reminds me how important it is to stay grounded, listen, and never forget where I started.
Travel was a huge part of my early career, and certain places still stand out Seattle especially. I spent a summer there with a great group of lads, and the city had an energy that made every weekend feel like an adventure. Good weather, good people, and work that kept us engaged created memories I still think about.
What has kept me at EOS for eight years, though, is the culture. It’s rare to find a large organisation where people are genuinely open, approachable, and eager to share knowledge.
That willingness to help others grow has shaped my entire journey. Now, in a leadership role, I try to carry that forward giving my team the same time, guidance, and support that others once gave me. Whether it’s coaching, answering questions, or helping someone map out their goals, I want them to feel backed every step of the way.
Behind the scenes, AV operations rely heavily on constant communication. The work moves fast, and coordination is everything. But it’s not all technical talk we also make time for team events outside of work. Those relationships matter. They make us stronger when we’re delivering complex projects under pressure.
Stepping into management wasn’t without challenges. The biggest shift was going from being “one of the lads” to being their manager. I had worked alongside many of them for years, so the dynamic naturally changed. I addressed it head‑on, speaking openly about my new responsibilities and the direction we were heading.
In a fast‑moving, global environment, motivation comes from celebrating wins big or small. Recognition matters, especially when the pace is intense. People perform at their best when they feel appreciated, and I make a point of acknowledging when someone goes above and beyond.
Looking back, it’s the people who’ve had the biggest impact on my journey. The colleagues and friends I’ve met at EOS have shaped me both professionally and personally, and their support has played a huge role in who I am today. Everyone in EOS is an open book, willing to share knowledge & wisdom to help you grow & achieve your goals.
